Obituary Condolences

RICHIE Mr. Jesse Thomas Richie, Jr., passed away peacefully Sunday, March 29, 2009. Born in Huntington, West Virginia, Mr. Richie was the eldest son of Jesse Thomas Richie, Sr. and Edith Layne Richie. A graduate of Northeastern University with a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mr. Richie later earned a Masters of Business Administration from Morgan State University. He served with distinction in the Vietnam War and retired as an Engineer with the United States Department of Defense in 2005. An avid outdoorsman and water sports enthusiast, Mr. Richie was a member of the Buffalo Divers Scuba Club, a swim instructor with the Aquatic Ministry at Bethel Baptist Institutional Church and was also a dedicated academic tutor for the church's B.E.S.T. Academy. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife, Willetta Liptrot Richie; children, Robyn Denise Richie, Ian Sadar Richie and Khalilah LaJean Liptrot; siblings, Ron Richie (Tom Morgan) and Rosalind Richie; as well as other family members, loyal friends and the staff of Life Care Center of Jacksonville. The calling hour will take place in the Historic Sanctuary of Bethel Baptist Institutional Church, the Rev. Dr. Rudolph W. McKissick, Sr. and Bishop Rudolph W. McKissick, Jr., Senior Pastors, Thursday, April 2, 2009 at 9am, 215 Bethel Baptist St. A Memorial service will follow at 10 AM. Interment will occur in Arlington National Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Mr. Richie's name may be made to the or Community Hospice of Northeast Florida.
