Obituary Condolences

MAHER John Louis Maher, 92, passed away May 11, 2009, at the Hadlow Hospice Center. He was born February 3, 1917, in Monett, Missouri. John was a veteran of WWII, a career officer in the United States Air Force, retiring as Colonel in 1967. Following his Air Force career, he served on the faculty of The Ohio State University. He received his Bachelor's from Creighton University, Omaha, NE, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus and The Retired Officers Association. He was an avid golfer, carding five hole-in-ones during his playing years. John is survived by his sons, John (Denise) Maher and James (Joni) Maher; daughter, Mary Jo (John) Vanderpoel; grandchildren, Andrew, Joseph, Elizabeth, Allison and Jamie Maher, Michael, Matthew, Mark and Kathleen Vanderpoel, and great grandchildren, Madeline and Evan. His loving wife of 54 years, Adophina Jo Maher, predeceased him. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 16, 2009, in the Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church with Reverend Remek Blaszkowski as Celebrant.
