MARVIN C. "DOC" ZANDERS Obituary
ZANDERS MARVIN C. 'DOC' ZANDERS The Man, The Method, The Message Entrepreneur, humanitarian, social activist, and philanthropist, Marvin Clyde Zanders was born in Winter Garden, Florida. Zanders prepared himself by attending the grammar schools of Winter Garden and Winter Park. He attended Hungerford High School in Eatonville, Florida and graduated from New Brunswick High School, New Brunswick, New Jersey. Marvin went on to attend the New York School of Embalming and Restorative Arts. He served in The United States Army. Mr. Zanders distinguished himself as a leader of people by utilizing his influence to motivate individuals to become their best. He accomplished this from the helm of the Marvin C. Zanders Funeral Home, Inc. of Apopka, Florida. Zanders served the families of Central Florida for over fifty years. He has given scholarships, support to local schools, in addition to continuous support to various community organizations throughout Central Florida. Through his selflessness, Zanders was showing people that when we give back, we all become better and stronger. "God gave me a chance; let me give my fellowman a chance." This was the impetus that drove Zanders to not let up while pressing toward the mark. This message of self help has inspired many to establish businesses, pursuer college degrees, as well as becoming positive citizens. The response of the people to Zanders humanitarian efforts are evident by the renaming of Lake Avenue in Apopka to Marvin C. Zanders Avenue and the Marvin C. Zanders Park in Winter Garden, Florida. The title of "The People's Choice" was bestowed upon Zanders because of his listening ear, gentle heart, and sharing hand. This servant of God, lover of people translated to his heavenly mansion on Sunday, December 12, 2010, while surrounded by his loving family. He leaves to continue the Zanders Legacy his five children among them, Rev. Dr. Marvin C. Zanders, II (Winifred); nine grandchildren among them, David R. Zanders, Marvin C. Zanders and Micah V.
