VILLA ALVAREZ Obituary
ALVAREZ Villa Mae (Millie) Alvarez, 78, passed away on Monday, June 28, 2011 in Switzerland, FL. Millie was born in Sant Fe, New Mexico on July 2, 1932 and was a homemaker. Millie was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was the first women from the State of New Mexico to enlist in the US Navy WAVES, and was proud of her Navy service. A skilled artist and craftswoman, she provided friends and family with beautiful crafts and artwork throughout her life. A woman of faith and a member of the Argyle Church of Christ, she was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Joseph; and is survived by sister, June Prigmore of Albuquerque, New Mexico, brothers Bill Gandee, Sallisaw OK, and Gordon Gandee of Mesa, AZ; children, Kathy Duren (widow of David), Tom Alvarez and his wife Leigh Ann, Bill Alvarez and his wife Karen, and Paul Alvarez and his wife Mia; grandchildren, April, David, Michael, Amy, Ashley, Kyle (wife Cassie), James, Claire, and Joseph Alvarez; great grandchildren, Jesse Alvarez and Maria Alvarez, and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5:00-8:00 PM Thursday, June 30, 2011 at Jacksonville Memory Gardens Funeral Home, 111 Blanding Blvd., Orange Park, FL. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, July 1, 2011 at Argyle Church of Christ, 7310 Collins Rd., Jacksonville, FL 32244. Interment will follow at Jacksonville Memory Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Community Hospice of North Florida, 4266 Sunbeam Rd., Jacksonville, FL 32257. Please Sign the Guestbook @ Jacksonville.com
