Obituary Condolences

MILLER Laura Harris Miller age 91, of Jacksonville, FL. passed away peacefully after a long battle with cancer on July 31, 2011. She was predeceased by her parents, Laura Lindner and William H. Harris, her husband, Henry J. Miller and brother William (Billy) Hurt Harris. Laura was born in Jacksonville, FL. but spent her early years in Savannah, GA., graduating from High School there. She attended the University of Tampa and later join the U.S. Navy as a Wave during World War II. After the war she moved to Jacksonville where she met and married the love of her life, Henry. They had many wonderful years together, enjoying their home and traveling. After the death of her husband in 1983, Laura continued her love of world travel with best friends Norma and Harry Mitchell and Margaret and Fred Sears. She retired from Travelers Insurance Bond Dept. in 1982 after 25 years of faithful service and then spent many years as a volunteer in Memorial Hospitals gift shop. Laura is survived by two sisters-in-law; Sophia Horoszewski and Jean Potenski of Dumont, NJ as well as four nephews; Robert Miller of PA, Thomas Miller of NJ, Donald and Kenneth Potenski of NJ. Laura was a devout Catholic, being a parishioner of Prince of Peace Catholic Church Laura will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her but we know she is in a better place. Visitation and vigil will be Thursday, August 4, 2011 from 5 pm to 7 pm at the Hardage-Giddens Hendricks Avenue Chapel. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 5 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church , 6320 Bennett Rd. Jacksonville, FL. Graveside services will follow at Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Hardage- Giddens Funeral Home 4115 Hendricks Ave. Jacksonville, FL 32207.
