Obituary Condolences

LAMBERT Edith Lambert, 85, passed into eternal life on August 3, 2011 of complications from chronic pulmonary disease. Born in Tuscaloosa, AL on September 24, 1925 to John F. and Alma P. Jackson, she was preceded in death by her parents, twin sister Edna Thomas, older sister, Pauline Moak, and beloved granddaughter Kristina King. She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Walter D. (Doug) Lambert; daughters, Leslie Eberling (Bob) and Lisa Lambert; sons, Skip Lambert (Carol), Jack Lambert (Cathy), and Steve Lambert (Kim); grandchildren, Kevin and Karin Ingwersen, Jennifer Young, Michael and Katy Lambert, Shane and Caitlin Eddins, and Chris, Abbi, and Erica Lambert; great-grandchildren, Chloe Young, Kya Lambert, and Alex Lambert. Edie was raised in Pensacola, FL during the great depression and graduated from Pensacola High School. In 1946 she married a handsome young Naval Aviator, whom she met while volunteering at the USO. Doug always shared this story to friends and family he was attracted to her long sexy legs. As a devoted navy wife, she and her family had many deployments including Saipan, several stateside locations, and finally, Jacksonville, FL, where she resided for the past 45 years. A true lady of southern grace, Edie dearly loved the Lord and her family as a devoted wife, mother, and doting grandmother. As well as being a consummate homemaker, she volunteered for the American Red Cross and was active in the Retired Officers Wives Club in Jacksonville. We will all miss her compassionate, caring personality, her steadfast loyalty in times of triumph or adversity, and her scrumptious potato salad. The family visitation to greet friends will be held from 6:00pm until 8:00pm, Sunday, August 7, 2011 at Hardage-Giddens Blanding Funeral Home (5753 Blanding Blvd.) Jacksonville, FL 32244. Funeral Service will be held on Monday, 11:00am, August 8, 2011 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 5752 Blanding Blvd., Jacksonville, FL. Funeral Service will conclude at the church. Family will have a private burial at Jacksonville National Cemetery, Jacksonville, FL. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra, the Jacksonville Humane Society, or the American Red Cross.
