FRANCES HUNTER Obituary
HUNTER Frances Carol Hunter died Friday, August 12 after a brief illness. She was 92. She was born on June 15, 1919 in Bamberg, South Carolina. She was the only child of Francis and Maude Bush. She grew up in Orlando, Florida and later lived in Beaufort, South Carolina. She had lived for the last 43 years in Jacksonville. After she raised her children, she was employed with The Vogue in Lakewood and later joined Stein Mart at the University Blvd. store where she worked for 22 years until her retirement. She was married to the late Robert Elmer Hunter. She is survived by her five children, Sibby Carol Gruber (Renn) of St. Simons Island, Georgia, Joann Coursey of Jacksonville, Robert Dennis Hunter (Carie) of St. Augustine, Jerry Marvin Hunter (Sandy) of Reddick, Florida and Kerry Earl Hunter (Janice) of Jacksonville. Frances has sixteen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. For everyone who had the privilege of knowing Frances, knew that her family was the most important thing in her life. Years and years of holiday meals and Sunday afternoon dinners defined her. If you were one of the lucky ones, you experienced eating her specialties, fried corn, cornbread dressing and the best potato salad you could ever eat and much more. After Frances experienced the thrill of having twin boys herself, Jerry and Kerry, she was blessed with twin great-grandsons, Sloan and Dayton, which brought back many fond memories. Graveside funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 17, 2011 in Oaklawn Cemetery. HARDAGE-GIDDENS OAKLAWN CHAPEL, 4801 San Jose Blvd is serving the family.
