Ernest Anderson Obituary
ANDERSON Ernest Anderson, 86, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, September 10, 2011. He was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee in 1924 and moved to Jacksonville in 1951. He retired from Durr-Filhauer at the age of 65. Ernest served his country from 1942-1951 in both the United States Coast Guard and the United States Army. During this time, he enjoyed playing the trumpet, accompanied by his brother on the drums, at various military events. He was an avid fan of the Big Band music era and was an accomplished swing dancer. Ernest was an easy going, honest man who loved God, his family, and his country. He had a passion for reading the Bible and studying scripture. He enjoyed listening to various evangelists and church services both on television and radio when he wasn't able to be in church on Sunday mornings. Ernest's other passion was his family. Ernest will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 60 years, Nettie Boyette Anderson; his daughter Pattie Appleby (Gavin); his son Bill Anderson (Sally); five grandchildren, Christie, Kenny, Kyle (Jenna), Christopher, and Cody; 4 great grandchildren, Joey, Drew, Norman, and Ella; his twin brother, Earl, and numerous other family and friends, as well as his faithful dog, Blitz. Ernest's presence at home and family gatherings will be dearly missed, but his family has comfort in knowing he is resting peacefully with our Lord, Jesus Christ. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 13, 2011 in Christ's Church, located at 6045 Greenland Road. A Committal Service will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, 4300 Beach Blvd. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin, 11801 San Jose Blvd. Jacksonville, FL 32223. www.hgmandarin.com (904) 288-0025.
