GLADYS WILLIAMS Obituary
WILLIAMS Mrs. Gladys Williams, of Jacksonville, Florida, departed this life to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 20, 2011. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Wright and Allen Grimes; her loving husband, Willie James Williams, Sr.; son, Harry Daniels; daughter, Della Williams; and grandson, John Daniels, Jr. She was born in Bamberg, South Carolina and moved to Jacksonville, Florida as a young woman. She was employed by the Naval Air Station Jacksonville Hospital. She was a dedicated member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church for many years and faithfully served on the Usher Board. Later she joined St. Pius V Catholic Church where she served on the St. Bernadette Guild and the Usher Board. She was also a member of The Altar Rosary Society and The Welcome and Outreach Ministry for many years. She was a member of Bethlehem Grand Chapter Order of Eastern Stars, Prince Hall Affiliated, for more than fifty years. She was recently in the A. L. Fleming Chapter OES #45 and served as Chaplain. She embodied selflessness, love, and uncommon grace to all who knew her. She is survived by two daughters, Coretha C. Oliver (Preston) and Mary A. Russ (Alonzo), and four sons, John Daniels, Sr. (Mary), Willie J. Williams, Jr. (Stacey), Clarence, and VicBrazil (Dorothy). She is also survived by her sister, Girthel Banks, a host of adoring grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, godchildren, and other sorrowing family and friends. We will always cherish the loving memory of our mother, grandmother and friend praying for her family and loved ones. The family wishes to thank the dedicated staffs at Baptist Medical Center, St. Vincents Medical Center and Dr. Gaston J. Acosta-Rua Center/Community Hospice of Northeast Florida. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on September 27, 2011, at St. Pius V Catholic Church, Father Chukwudi O. Callistus Onwere, Pastor. Visitation will be at mortuary from 5 until 7pm on Monday.
