Donna Stearns Obituary
STEARNS Donna Lewis Stearns, 63, of Willow Spring, NC went to be with her Lord on November 27, 2011 after an extended illness. Donna was born June 24, 1948 in Bradenton, FL to Harry W. Lewis and Marcelle Lundy Lewis (Gile). She graduated from the first graduating Class of Wolfson High School in Jacksonville, FL in 1966; Florida Junior College in 1968; and cum laude from the Medical Assistant program at Lenoir Community College. Donna lived most of her adult life in Kinston, NC and recently relocated to the Raleigh, NC area in 2003. Donna worked as the Assistant to the Activities Director for FJC; the Veterans Administration; Baltimore County Police Department; and North Carolina Division of Soil and Water Conservation. For Donna, being a mother was the most important aspect of her life; accordingly she excelled at spreading love to her children, her family and the members of her community. Always available with a smiling face, she was an immediate friend to those she had never met and a perpetual pillar for those with whom she had a lifelong bond. She is survived by a son, Joshua D. Stearns, MD of Scottsdale, AZ; a daughter, Elizabeth Ann Young (Russell) of Willow Spring, NC; two grandsons Wyatt and Tristan Young; her mother, Marcelle Lundy Lewis Gile of Jacksonville, FL; a sister Kathy H. Hamilton (Jim) of Jacksonville, FL; nephews and nieces Christian Harden (Stephanie), Ansley Busch (Jim), Blake Harden, Brooke Harden. We would like to thank the many medical, nursing and allied health providers from the Wake Medical Center community for helping to care for her during her extended illness. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at Oaklawn Cemetery from 5:30 to 7:30. Services will be held on Thursday, December 1st at 10:00 at Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn Chapel. Interment will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery. Hardage-Giddens/Oaklawn Chapel, 4801 San Jose Blvd., Jacksonville, FL is serving the family. Please Sign the Guestbook @
