CHARLES CRABTREE Obituary
CRABTREE Charles Thomas (Tom) Crabtree of Jacksonville, FL passed away at the age of 78 on Monday, September 24 surrounded by his loving family and friends. Mr. Crabtree was born in Orlando, FL, moving to Jacksonville at a young age. He attended St. Joseph Catholic School until eleventh grade then became a member of the first graduating class of Bishop Kenny High School where he played football and was homecoming king. His greatest achievement in high school was meeting Camille Fuss who became his wife of 56 years. He was a member of the American Red Cross Volunteer Life Saving Corps. He attended Jacksonville University where he became a member of Phi Delta Theta later transferring to the University of Florida where his love for the Gators was established. Once married he moved back to Jacksonville to start his family and career in the plumbing industry. He retired from his company, Crabtree and Associates, where he worked with his baby brother Jim. He served as Commodore of The Florida Yacht Club and was a founding member of The Round Table. He was a member of The Rotary Club of West Jacksonville and was a Paul Harris Fellow. Survivors include his wife Camille Fuss Crabtree, four children Mike (Cathy) Crabtree, Sissy (Ashley) Horn, Jeff (Renee) Crabtree and Elizabeth (Richard) O'Steen, nine grandchildren Ryan (LeAnne), Hunter, Emily, Chase, Jeffrey, Luke, Clay, Charlie and Cami; three brothers Dick (Frankie), Bill (Ann) and Jim (Susan), brother-in-law Tim (Carol) Fuss and many nieces and nephews. His first great grandchild will be born in March. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Matthew's on Thursday, September 27 at 10:30 am. A reception will follow in the parish hall. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations are sent to ARCVLSC, PO Box 330024, Atlantic Beach, FL 32233 or St. Matthew Catholic Church, 1773 Blanding Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32210.
