WATERS Paula Claree Waters, 61, passed away peacefully Sunday morning, October 14th, at 6:30 am. She was surrounded by her family at home. Paula was born on June 1, 1951 in Tampa, Florida. She graduated from Callahan High School and attended Florida State University before moving to Jacksonville when she married Wayne Waters on January 18, 1974. Paula was a long-time member of Mandarin United Methodist Church where she often volunteered her time. As a young woman, she held the titles of Miss Northeast Florida Fair 1965 and Miss Nassau County 1966. Over the years, she was on the board of the Women's Guild at the Jacksonville Museum of Arts and Sciences, co-chair of Bolles Jubilee, and an active parent volunteer for numerous events. Her greatest achievements were raising her two daughters and making all moments, big and small, special for her family. She was an inspiration and role model as a friend, wife, mother, and grandmother to all of those around her. Paula truly was an angel on earth. Paula is survived by her husband, Wayne Waters, daughters April Allen (David) of Athens, Georgia and Ashley Whitman (Kyle) of Jacksonville, granddaughters Capra and Ivy Whitman, grandson Watts Allen, sisters Lisa Stratton and Mary Stratton, and brother Mark Stratton (Lori). Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 18, 2012 at Mandarin United Methodist Church, 11270 San Jose Boulevard. Interment will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at The Oaklawn Chapel on Wednesday from 5 until 8 p.m. The family suggest memorial contributions be made to Community Hospice of Northeast Florida, 4266 Sunbeam Rd., 32257 or Mandarin United Methodist Church, 11270 San Jose Blvd., 32223. HARDAGE-GIDDENS, THE OAKLAWN CHAPEL, 4801 San Jose Boulevard is serving the family. Please Sign the Guestbook @ Jacksonville.com
