Obituary Condolences

FOUNTAIN Mrs. Joan Devoe Fountain, well known educator, passed away peacefully October 15, 2012. Mrs. Fountain was a lifelong resident of Jacksonville, FL, where she was educated, and was a graduate of Jean Ribault Senior High School - Class of 1977. Furthering her education, she attended Morris Brown College of Atlanta, GA, and was a graduate of Edward Waters College. As a proud band member, Mrs. Fountain served in both the Marching Ribault Trojans and Marching Morris Brown Wolverines Bands. As one of Duval County's Outstanding Educators, Mrs. Fountain was employed with Duval County School Board until she retired due to her health after rendering 12 years of dedicated service. Other affiliations include Phi Mu Alpha Symphonette Society. Mrs. Fountain was a member of Emanuel Missionary Baptist Church, where she served in the Choir and District # 16. She was predeceased by her father, Marion Devoe; son, Cliffy Fountain and brother-in-law, Chester M. Willis, Sr. Survivors include her mother, Mrs. Ida M. Devoe; sisters, Ms. Thelma D. Jones, Dr. Marilyn D. Willis and Ms. Carilyn E. Devoe; nieces and nephews, Johnnie E. Jones, III, Jessica N. Hartley (Dr. Daniel), Marion A. Jones, Chester M. Willis, II (Dr. Jaqueline), and Raquel D. Willis; grand nephews, Jaquavius Jones, Hunter D. Hartley, Cameron Jones and Chester M. Willis, III; grandmother, Mrs. Daisy Williams Devoe; a number of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends. FUNERAL SERVICE will be held 10 AM, Saturday, October 20, 2012 in Emanuel Missionary Baptist Church, Rev. Herb Anderson, officiating. Visitation will be in the ALPHONSO WEST MORTUARY, 4409 Soutel Dr., FRIDAY from 5 PM until 8PM (where the family will receive friends at 5 PM) and Saturday at the church from 9 AM until the hour of service. Interment will be in Beulah Hill Cemetery, Live Oak, Florida. Friends are asked to assemble at the church. Please Sign the Guestbook @ Jacksonville.com
