COATE William Bleecker Coate, age 91, died Thursday, October 18, 2012 at Vicars Landing, Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. The cause of death was cancer. He was predeceased by his mother, Margaret Bleecker Coate and his father, Roland Eli Coate. His father was a noted Architect in Pasadena and Los Angeles, CA. Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 71 years, Mary Louise (Cayey) Coate and their 2 children Eric William Coate (Georgianna Delacore) of Saranac, NY and Kristen Coate Ely (William) of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL. Bill resumed, with enthusiasm, his Southern California childhood interest in tennis after relocating to Florida in 1985. He played frequently, competing and often winning matches into his late 80 s.
