Obituary Condolences

LANE Ira Leda Lane, 89, passed away on Dec 13, 2012. She was born July 7, 1923, in Vladivostok, Siberia to Ira Clayton Lane and Olga Sedatch Lane. Her parents met when her father was stationed aboard the US Naval ship, Sacramento in Russia just after the Bolshevik Revolution. Her father arranged the passage of Leda and her mother to the United States when Leda was 4 years old. Leda attended nursing school in Washington, DC and at the Florida State College for Women in Tallahassee then enlisted in the US Navy in 1947, where she rose to the rank of Lt. Commander. During her 23 years of Naval service, she lived in Key West, Hawaii, Italy North Carolina and Rhode Island and then retired in 1970 to New Bedford, MA. She began her second career with the State Hospital in Massachusetts where she worked 10 years. In 1985, Leda moved to Jacksonville, FL to be near her beloved father and step mother and family. Leda enjoyed playing bridge and met many wonderful friends during her retirement. She enjoyed her family, eating out with friends and her beloved pets. She belonged to St. Mark s Lutheran Church. She is survived by her brother, Clayton Dale Lane (Bev); sisters, Judith Micheau, Darlene Papa (Tony); nieces and nephews: Anna, Sonya, and Melissa Lane, Kelly and Brian Micheau, and Michael and Matthew Papa. Visitation will be held at 10:30 am Tuesday, December 18th with the funeral service following at 11:00 am at St. Mark s Lutheran Church, 3976 Hendricks Avenue, Jacksonville, FL. Burial will take place at Belmore Cemetery, Clay County, FL.
