Obituary Condolences

CANTARINI Rudolph Vincent Cantarini, Rudy of Jacksonville, died peacefully at home Friday surrounded by loved ones and is now in his eternal home with the Lord. He was born December 9, 1929 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Sophia and Vincent Cantarini. He is pre-deceased by his only sister Edith Spera. A mass will be held at 10:00a.m. on Friday March 8, 2013 at San Jose Catholic Church, 3619 Toledo Rd. He served 4 years in the United States Navy where he attended Navy Aerographer s School in Lakehurst, NJ. He then earned a degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Miami in 1959. He subsequently attained Professional Engineer status. His career highlights include Kennedy Space Center Apollo mission and Officer in Charge of Construction for the Trident Nuclear Submarine in St. Mary s, GA. After retiring, he traveled throughout Europe and the United States. He had a passion for playing his trumpet, jazz music, tennis and enjoying good Italian food. He was a life-long Catholic. Rudy is survived by Marie Lucille Cantarini, his devoted wife of 55 years; William Cantarini of Redondo Beach, CA, son; Paul and Sue Cantarini of Salt Lake City, UT, son and daughter-in-law; Joanne and David Bane of Jacksonville, daughter and son-in-law; Lisa and Alan Simone of Jacksonville, daughter and son-in-law. Two granddaughters: Carly Cantarini of Salt Lake City, UT and Grace Simone of Jacksonville, FL. The family extends utmost appreciation and gratitude toward the loving caregivers at Vitas Hospice.
