J.O. MCLEOD Obituary
MCLEOD Reverend J.O. McLeod passed away March 24, 2013 at Bailey Community Hospice Center, St. Augustine, FL. He was born December 7, 1928, in Hazlehurst, GA to James Otho, Sr. and Mamie Currie McLeod. He married the former Gwen Durham in 1978, who survives. He was called to preach the gospel in 1956 and ordained at Southside Baptist Church, Hazlehurst, GA. After full time pastorates of eight churches in GA and FL, he established the J.O. McLeod Evangelistic Ministries where he preached hundreds of revivals and Olde Tyme camp meetings, mentoring 'preacher boys' across his 54 year ministry. Brother J.O. was preceded in death by his parents; brothers James D. and Glynn McLeod; sisters Lillian Simmons, Mildred Stout, Beth Lawhan and Lawrence Beecher. Survivors include his wife, Gwen McLeod; four sons and their wives: Rick McLeod, Stann and Kathy McLeod, Keith & Joan McLeod, Tim and Brittany McLeod and a step-daughter, Becky Boutieller. He is survived by one remaining sibling, Allean Mahady. Also surviving are 10 Grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at Crescent Beach Baptist Church, 885 SR 206 East, St. Augustine, FL with Dr. David Beauchamp officiating. Visitation is at Crescent Beach Baptist Church, Tuesday March 26, 2013, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to the Crescent Beach Baptist Church Building Fund.
