RICHARD MALLETT Obituary
MALLETT Richard Lynam Mallett Dick Mallett stopped suffering on April 15, 2013. He was born in Gorges Hospital in Ancon, Panama Canal Zone on November 25, 1929. He attended Mt. Washington Country School in Bethesda, MD as a young boy. While living in the Panama Canal Zone, he progressed from Cub Scout to Boy Scout 1st Class and then the Sea Scouts. He graduated from Balboa High in 1952 He was an accomplished swimmer and represented the Canal Zone on the swim team. He never lost a race in which he competed. Some of his winning times have never been bested and will remain so since the Canal Zone Company no longer exists. He attended Ohio State University and served in the US Army during the Korean War. Then he attended Montgomery Jr. College in Tacoma Park, MD, Massey Business College in Jacksonville and Georgia Technical Inst, Chamblis, GA He was an electronics technician and worked in the Calibration Laboratory at NAS Jax and Cubi Point NAS in Olongopo, PI He retired in 1985 to devote himself full time to raising animals including his pig farm. He was a member of the American Legion Post 0037, Elks 829, VFW, NRA . He became a Knight of Columbus Council 11046, raising to the 4th degree Assembly 0166. He was a member of the Roman Catholic faith and attended San Sebastian Church. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Mallett. Sons-Richard Mallett, Jr (Cecelia), John Mallett (Sue), Dominic Kidwell (Linda), and Raymond Kidwell. Daughters-Ann Medlin, Loretta Zelig (Ralph), Carol Chianumba (Humphrey), Sandra Rekau (Michael), Joan Daniels (John Hedstrum), Laurie Reed ( Ronald) and Christine Chamberlain (John). Sister Jeanne Wheeler, 29 grandchildren and 18 great-grand-children. Requiem Mass will be at San Sebastian Church on Saturday, April 20 at 11:00 with visitation at 10:00. In lieu of flowers a donation to San Sebastian Building Fund is suggested. St. Johns Family Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Please Sign the Guestbook @Jacksonville.com
