VIRGIS HUGHES Obituary
HUGHES Virgis Andrew Bud Hughes passed away on Wednesday May 1, 2013 at the age of 86. Born on November 23, 1926 to Virgil and Lottie Hughes, Bud grew up in Cumberland County Tennessee with 11 other brothers and sisters. At the age of 16, Bud joined the United States Navy where he served in WW II and the Korean War. After 42 years of service to his country, Bud and his wife retired to Jacksonville, FL where they raised their family. He leaves his loving memories to be cherished by: his beloved wife of 63 years, Alma Lois Hughes; his children Rodney Hughes (Sandy), Susan Lewis (Don), and Patty Carter; his 9 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and many other loving family and friends. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Roberta Hughes Horvath. Bud was known by friends and family as a great bass fisherman, storyteller and for his fishing lures lovingly named Buds Baits . His greatest pleasure in life was spending time with all His Kids who will always remember him as the best Husband, Daddy and Pa. Family and friends will visit on Monday, May 6 from 5:00PM until 7:00PM at Jacksonville Memory Gardens Funeral Home, 111 Blanding Blvd., Orange Park, FL.
