FELIX RADLEIGH Obituary
RADLEIGH Felix P. Radleigh, 92, of Fleming Island, FL, formerly of Lyndhurst, NJ, died peacefully on April 10, at the Lassen VA Home in St. Augustine, FL. He was born and grew up in Lyndhurst, NJ, relocating to Florida in 1988. During WWII, he served in the US Navy aboard the aircraft carrier USS Ticonderoga. He was severely wounded during a Kamikaze attack and was awarded the Purple Heart while in the hospital on Guadalcanal. During his lifetime he was in and out of hospitals with war related surgeries. While still recovering from his injuries, Felix attended Bulova Watchmaking School and became a master watchmaker. He played wheelchair basketball for the Bulova Watchmakers, the Jersey Wheelers and became president of the National Wheelchair Basketball Assoc. He worked at Leslie Co. in Lyndhurst and attended Farleigh -Dickinson Univ. He retired as personnel manager in 1971 and was active in many military and community organizations, holding leadership roles. He is survived by his wife Grace, children Eileen Radleigh, Patricia Lee (Bob), Raymond (Susan), his, step-daughters Marie G. Bates and Gail G. McGrath, 3 sisters, 11 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Interment will be June 4th at Arlington National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Community Hospice, 4266 Sunbeam Rd. Jax., 32257.
