Obituary Condolences

HUNTLEY Yvonne Bonnie Wallace Huntley, of East Palatka passed away Friday, June 7, 2013 at the Putnam Community Medical Center in Palatka. Born in Chiefland, Florida, Bonnie grew up mostly in Palatka, FL. She was a high school graduate of the Lower Division of Berea College in Berea, KY. Bonnie attended Rockford College in Rockford, IL and Bessie Tift College (now Mercer University) in Forsyth, GA. She completed her B.A. Degree in English at Florida State University in 1948. Bonnie taught school in Palatka, FL, Williamsburg, VA, Louisville, KY, Atlanta, GA, and Lakeland, FL. Bonnie was an active member of St James United Methodist Church singing in the choir, teaching Sunday school, and taking on other leadership responsibilities. She supported the arts and education in Putnam County. With her husband, she was recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow through the Rotary Club of Palatka and also was a generous supporter of the Rodeheavor Boys Ranch. Bonnie stepped in where she was needed in her community and always was willing to serve and help others. Preceding her in death were her husband of 48 years, William T. Bill Huntley and her parents, Stuart and Edna Wallace. Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Anne and Mark Uhlfelder of Aspen, Colorado, and Ellen and Matt Dub of Gainesville; one sister, Ellen Wallace Heard, brother, Stuart Rhett Wallace, Jr; three grandchildren, David Uhlfelder, Joshua Uhlfelder and Andrew Dub ; and many nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 12th, at Masters Funeral Home of Palatka. In honor and celebration of Bonnie s life, a video tribute will be shown. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 13th at the St. James United Methodist Church with Pastor Donald Hanna officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill East Cemetery.
