Obituary Condolences

WEST Marjorie Ann West, age 86, formerly of Neptune Beach, FL, passed away Tuesday morning, July 3, 2013. She was born in Clay County, WV to Allie and Anon Steorts. She graduated from Clay County High School in 1944 and received her radiologist certification in 1946 at Charleston General Hospital before marrying her childhood sweetheart, Earl Kent West, in 1947. After Earl graduated with his engineering degree from WVU, the couple moved to Columbus, OH, where she was actively involved in her three sons lives and in the community and was an avid bridge player. In 1986, she and Earl retired to Neptune Beach, where she continued to play bridge with friends, swam in her new pool, and was active in the Beaches Women s Club, serving two terms as president from 1993 to 1995, and in the Newcomers Club of the Beaches. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. Earl and Marjorie would have celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary on June 23 if Earl had not passed away shortly before Marjorie on April 30, 2013. Survivors include their three sons, Gregory Kent West and his wife Susan Hill of Atlantic Beach, Charles Freeman West and his wife Sarah M. West of Chicago, IL, and Kevin Randal West of Pleasantville, OH; 4 grandchildren, Alexander Kent West and Thomas Freeman West of Chicago, IL, Chad Andrew Hill of Falls Church, VA, and Michael Patrick Hill of Los Angeles, CA; 2 great-grandchildren, Camilla Catherine Hill and Caroline Gregory Hill of Falls Church, VA; 2 sisters, Patricia Louise Casey of Ft. Myers, FL, and Roberta Legg of Jeffersontown, KY; 1 brother, Robert Steorts of Chesapeake, VA; and more than 40 nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 20 from 2:00 until 4:00 PM in Quinn-Shalz Funeral Home of Jacksonville Beach.
