HUBERT TAYLOR Obituary
TAYLOR Mr. Hubert G. Taylor, age 87, of Yulee, passed away on Thursday afternoon, August 29, 2013 at the Acosta Rua Center for Caring in Jacksonville. Born in Alma, Georgia, he was one of fifteen children born to the late, James Oliver and Ellie Cauley Taylor. In the late 1930s, the Taylor family moved from Bacon County to the community of Patterson to what would become the family farm. At the age of eighteen, Mr. Taylor left home and joined the U.S. Army. Upon being honorably discharged, as a World War II, Veteran he returned home. In 1946, he married a young girl from the Patterson area, Virginia Blalock. The newlyweds made their first home in Offerman, Georgia where they began their family. In 1953, they came to Fernandina Beach as he accepted employment at Container Corporation of America. Mr. and Mrs. Taylor moved their family to Yulee in 1959 where they had remained. His wife passed away in 1994. Mr. Taylor retired from Container in 1980. After retiring, Mr. Taylor pursued his love of gardening, raising livestock as well as deer and fox hunting. He was a member of the Brickyard Hunting Club. In addition to his wife , Virginia, who passed away in 1994, he is preceded in death by a daughter, Tammy Renee Taylor, a grandson, Matthew James Taylor and a granddaughter, Christaine Taylor Raulerson. He leaves behind, his children, Frank Taylor (Lataine), Alma, GA, Travis Taylor (Ann), Yulee, FL, Danny Taylor (Bobbie), Yulee, FL, James Taylor (Debbie), Clarkesville, GA, Sandra Duren (Colonel Mickey Duren), St. Augustine, FL, a brother, Joe Taylor, Patterson, GA, three sisters, Annabelle Thornton, Waycross, GA, Delois Carter, Waycross, GA, Oletha Bryant, Patterson, GA, twelve grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Saturday, August 31, 2013, in the Burgess Chapel of Oxley Heard Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Kwiatkowski, officiating. Mr. Taylor will be laid to rest beside his wife in Hughes Cemetery, Yulee, FL with Full Military Honors. His family will receive friends on Saturday, (TODAY), at the funeral home, from 9:00 am until the hour of service.
