Obituary Condolences

MATHEWS Mrs. Hannah Frances Irving Mathews passed away peacefully August 26, 2013 at the age of 86. Hannah was born July 26, 1927 in Fernandina Beach, Florida to Joseph and Myrtle (Mitchell) Irving Sr. After relocating to Jacksonville, she graduated from St. Pius School in 1943 and Old Stanton High School in 1947. Hannah married Charles Eddie Mathews July 23, 1949 and had two beautiful children together, Charles Edward and Marsha Louise. She is a retiree of Riverside Hospital, where she worked as an x-ray developer for many years. She is also a member of The Church of the Crucifixion. Mrs. Hannah is predeceased by her husband Charles Eddie Mathews (February 6, 1994), her parents Joseph S. Irving Sr. (December 24, 1987) and Myrtle L. Irving (December 1, 1984), her beloved brother, Joseph S. Irving Jr. (July 6, 2012) and sister, Myrtle Nesbitt (April 22, 2003). She leaves to cherish her memory: Her children, treasured son Charles Edward Mathews, and adored daughter, Marsha Louise (Mathews) Butler and son-in-law, Rufus L. Butler, Jr.; her only grandchild, granddaughter Kristian Frances Butler; her nieces, JoAnn (Irving) Dawkins and Arna (Nesbitt) Moses; her childhood friend, Mary Frances McKinney; her close friend, Susie Hawkins; and other loved family and friends. A memorial prayer service will be held Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at 11:00 AM in the A. B. Coleman Memorial Chapel, with Rev. Paul A. Grizzelle-Reid, S.C.J., as celebrant.
