Marvin A. Taylor Obituary
TAYLOR Marvin A. Taylor was born September 9, 1929 in Jacksonville, Florida. He peacefully passed away, following a brief illness at the Earl B. Hadlow Center, surrounded by his loving family on October 30, 2013. He graduated from Andrew Jackson High School. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict and after discharged held the position of Assistant Tax Collector for the City of Jacksonville until his retirement in 1996 after 34 years of service. He was a member of Woodstock Masonic Lodge and a member of the Shrine. He was past Board Member for the Greater Jacksonville Fair as well as Duval Federal Credit Union. He was an avid golfer and member of the Hyde Park Men's Association and supporter of the Florida Gators. He was preceded in death by his parents Henry Taylor and Lorena Dean Taylor as well as his brother Walter Taylor. He leaves behind his wife of 61 years, Margaret Rahaim Taylor; son, Rick (Patti) Taylor; grandchildren, Ryan (Melissa) Taylor, Ashley Taylor, Scott (Meghan) King, Eric (Holly) King, and Jason (Carrie) King; 6 great-grandchildren; sisters, Doris Taylor Sieg and Vestel Taylor Smith; and a multitude of nieces, nephews, extended family, loved ones and friends. Marvin was a gentleman's gentleman. He was a well respected member of the community. He was kind, generous and humble, and admired by all who had the pleasure of meeting him. He will be missed by all who knew him. The family will receive visitors today from 6:30 -8:30 p.m. on Tuesday November 5, 2013 at Quinn-Shalz Funeral Home of Jacksonville Beach.
