Steven Lane Crews Obituary
CREWS Please Sign the Guestbook @ Jacksonville.com Steven Lane Crews, age 43, went home to be with our Savior on November 8, 2013. He was preceded in death by his father, Jimmy Crews. Steven leaves behind his partner, Maung Kyaw Zin; his mother, Mavis Barnes and her husband, Tom Barnes; his brother, James David Crews and half brother, John T. Barnes, III; half sisters, Amy Crews and Carla Allen; his paternal grandmother, Maudie Bacon; several loving aunts and uncles; extended family and of course many, many dear friends. He was born in Fernandina Beach, FL and grew up on the north side of Jacksonville. Steven graduated from Victory Christian Academy in 1988 and then went on to attend the Cosmetology School at Florida Junior College where he graduated with honors. He had blessed hands and a big heart where he had a talent for making everything he touched a little better and more beautiful. Steven was the Owner of Shear Knowledge, the Curl and Color Salon located in Jacksonville Beach, FL. He had a passion for curly hair and was proud to be a certified Ouidad salon where he was a master stylist for hundreds of fortunate clients. His talents didn't end with people, animals have always been a significant part of Steven's life too. Steven most recently won a blue ribbon in the Jacksonville Fair for his rooster, had a champion show dog, and had a passion for rescuing exotic birds. Simply put, Steven had a gift of making everyone and everything around him not only feel special, but also believe that they were special. There will be a Home Going Celebration of Steven's Life at Cedar Bay Funeral Home, located at 405 New Berlin Road, Jacksonville, FL 32218 on Thursday, November 14th (TODAY). Visitation will begin at 5:30 p.m. and Memorial Service at 6:30 p.m. The family requests that in lieu of flowers to please make donations to the Jacksonville Humane Society on behalf of Steven Crews. 714-1110.
