CARPENTER Please Sign the Guestbook @ Jacksonville.com Rodney F. Carpenter, 73, passed away Nov. 12, 2013 in Jacksonville, FL in the McGraw Center of Community Hospice of NE Florida, after struggling with lung cancer. He was born in Minot, ND to Frank and Evelyn Carpenter on Nov. 6, 1940. Rod spent summers from the age of 6 with his 2nd parents Lawrence and Edith Rose on their farm near Hannah, ND and became a master farmer at age 14. Rod graduated from Minot HS in 1958 and entered the US Navy in Jan. of 1959. He received many commendations during his service and retired as a Chief Petty Officer after 20 years of active service as an electronics technician. He also served another 27 years in Civil Service. Rod was an avid golfer and fisherman. He is survived by his wife, Judith; son, Sean (Laura); daughter, Teresa Bridge (Gary) and Keydi Groves (Ariel); sister, Joyce Reiersgord; and 7 grandchildren. A US Navy ceremony will be held in his honor where his cremated remains will be set free over the ocean. He was a good man and will be sorely missed.
