Dennis T. Deats, 60, of Lawrenceville, died Sunday, May 19, 2013, at Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre.
Dennis was born July 16, 1952, in Wellsboro, a son of Donald "Ted" and Avis (Deming) Deats. He was married to Deborah (Paris) Deats for 38 years.
He owned and operated Deats and Son Excavating. Dennis was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, Lawrenceville. He was instrumental in building the Cinderella Softball Field, enjoyed coaching girls softball and basketball at Williamson for nine years. He was a member of the men's Mushball League since it started. Dennis enjoyed hunting, trapping, spending time on his John Deere equipment and helping others.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Deborah; his father, "Ted" Deats of Lawrenceville; three daughters and a son-in-law, Kara Deats of Elmira, N.Y., Katie and Shawn McDonough of Elmira, N.Y., Krista Deats of Lawrenceville; a granddaughter, Shalaney Avis McDonough; a brother, Michael (Mary Gay) Deats of Middlebury Center; in-laws, Sharon (David) Richards of Charlotte, N.C., Fred (Sandi) Paris of Corning, N.Y., Roberta (Roz) Steadman of Elmira, N.Y., Barbara (Jerry) Wilber of Elmira, N.Y., Jolene (Steve) Tomlinson of Painted Post, N.Y., Paula (Ed) Bolt of Tioga, Kelly (Randy) Jelliff of Tioga; several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, May 22, from 5 to 8 p.m., at Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 637 S. Main St., Mansfield. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 23, at 11 a.m., at the funeral home with the Rev. Allen Hulslander officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Tioga.
