Gardner Lester Kibler, Sr., of Wellsboro, died Sunday, Feb. 9, 2014, at his daughter's home in Austin, Texas. Gardner will be buried in Cleveland, Ohio.
He was born to George Kibler and Lula Franklin Kibler in Cleveland, Ohio. He was the youngest of five children, Marion, George Jr., Doris and Russell, whom preceded him in death.
Gardner served honorably in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956. He married Edith D. Randall in December 1959, with whom he spent 55 years and sired five children, Joseph Sr. (Alison Hebe) of Wellsboro, George (Charla McMillian) of Wellsboro, Paul (deceased), Alice (Mario Reyes) of Austin, Texas, Gardner Kibler Jr. of Montoursville.
After Gardner retired from the East Ohio Gas Company, he and Edith moved to her hometown in Wellsboro. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, Jasmine, Joseph Jr., Melissa, William, Ivy, Isaiah, Rahel, Emmanuel, C'yana, Cwaan, Paul, Shellby, Chelsea, Candice, Felicia, Courtne, Caryne, Mario IV, Trishanda and Edith. Gardner was blessed with great-grandchildren, Andrea, Jaila, Cassandra, Arianna, Cameron, Cyrus, Noah, Corbin, and Jerel.
