Herbert Leroy "Herbie" Maynard, 85, of Harrison Valley, died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012, in the Sweden Valley Manor, Coudersport.
Born May 7, 1927, in Olean, N.Y., he was the son of Adelbert and Minnie Rarey Maynard.
He was employed as a ride operator by Jubilee Park in Carolina Beach, N.C.
Surviving are three nieces, Annie (Jesse) Chaffee, Harrison Valley; Ruth French, Addison, N.Y.; Candy Maynard, Olean, N.Y.; five nephews, Charles Gynnip, Elmira, N.Y.; Raymond Gynnip, Irving, N.Y.; John Gynnip, Lakeland, Fla.; James Gynnip, State College, Pa.; Harold Maynard, Jr., Enon, Ohio; several great-nieces, great-nephews, including special great-nieces, Jessica Chaffee, Elkland, and Virginia Doucette (children Nick, Patrick, Billy) of St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada; and great-nephew, Paul Bethlehem, Harrison Valley.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Harold Maynard, Sr.; infant sister, Genevieve Maynard; and sisters, Beatrice Gynnip and Amanda Maynard.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Oct. 26, in the Olney Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Ulysses. The Rev. Duane Burdick will officiate.
Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Andover, N.Y.
