Isabelle J. Gitchell, 90, of Wellsboro, died Wednesday, March 19, 2014, at Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital, Wellsboro.
Isabelle was born July 26, 1923, in Shippen Township, a daughter of Harry and Mabel (Kennedy) Jones. She was the widow of Raymond W. Gitchell who died March 19, 1981.
Isabelle worked at the Department of Transportation in Wellsboro as a personnel clerk before her retirement. She was a member of the Middle Ridge United Methodist Church, the Wellsboro Chapter of the DAR, and a life member of the Tioga County Historical Society. She enjoyed quilting and was an avid reader.
Isabelle is survived by a son, Scott Gitchell of Wellsboro; three daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon Rae and William Baker of Hilton, N.Y., Jill Brucklacher of Santa Clara, Calif., Carol and Tom Smith of Florida; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Raymond; two sisters, Clara Lawton, Lucille Sherman; and one brother, Phillip Kennedy Jones.
Services will be private. Burial will be in West Branch Cemetery, Wellsboro. Memorial contributions may be made in Isabelle's memory to the Tioga County Historical Society, P.O.
