John Louis Raub, 91, of Galeton, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013, at the Bradford Manor, Bradford, Pa.
Born Apr. 2, 1921 in Galeton, he was a son of the late Arthur and Sadie (Anderson) Raub.
John was a 1939 graduate of the Galeton High School. He was a United States Navel Veteran, having served as an Aircraft Mechanic on the U.S.S. Saratoga, U.S.S. Forrestal, and the U.S.S. Coral Sea during WWII
. John was a founding member of the Galeton V.F.W
., a lifetime member of the Galeton Moose, and a member of the Fleet Reserve.
Surviving are three brothers, Thomas (Shirley) Raub, North Tonawanda, N.Y.; Jerry Raub, Indio, Calif.; James Raub, Dundee, N.Y.; two special nephews, Scott and Zane Raub; several other nieces and nephews.
Friends called at the Hess Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Galeton, on Tuesday, Jan. 22, from 6 to 8 p.m. and at St. Bibiana's Catholic Church, Galeton, on Wednesday, Jan. 23, from 10 to 11 a.m. Following at 11 a.m., a Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at the church with the Rev. Joseph Dougherty as Celebrant. Military Honors were accorded by the Potter County Honor Guard.
Burial was in West Hill Cemetery.
