Louis P. Barbano, 91, of Elkland, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 3 2013, at the Green Home in Wellsboro.
Born May 6, 1922 in Elkland, he was the son of the late Peter and Louise Barbano.
He married Virginia Codispoti.
He served in the U.S. Army during WWII
in England and France and worked for the Elkland Leather Company and Metamora Products. Louis was a member of the St. Thomas Catholic Church, past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus, former Elkland Borough Manager and member of the Elkland Old Timers Softball. He loved gardening, woodworking and having coffee with his friends.
Louis is survived by his wife, Virginia; his daughters, Ann (Roger) Marsiglio, Elkland; Mary (Robert) Fischer, Mechanicsburg, Pa.; grandsons, Nicolas (Peggy) and Mathew Marsiglio; a great-grandson, Camden; and his sister, Mary Moody, Endicott, N.Y.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Ugo, and his sister, Leglia.
A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Thomas Catholic Church, 111 First Street, Elkland, on Saturday, Sept. 14, at 10 a.m.
