Zelma M. Hoar, 95 formerly of Gap passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, Oct. 5, 2012, at Fairmount Homes of Ephrata.
She was the wife of the late George E. Hoar who passed away on Nov. 4, 2007. At that time they had been married for 69 years. She was born in Sadsbury Township, daughter of the late Harry W. and Mary Woerth Zander.
She was a member of Bellevue Presbyterian Church of Gap, where in the past she taught the children's Sunday School Class, sang in the choir and helped in the kitchen. She assisted her husband in business at the Deerskin Leather Shop of Kitchen Kettle Village, Intercourse. She graduated from the former Paradise High School, class of 1934. Zelma enjoyed knitting, crocheting and reading.
Surviving are two children, H. Lee, husband of Mary Ellen Yuninger Hoar of Covington, Margaret A., wife of Paul N. Allison, Jr. of Gap; nine grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Ann Eby and a brother, Lloyd J. Zander.
There will be no viewing. A memorial service will take place from the Bellevue Presbyterian Church, 810 Newport Ave., Gap, Pa., on Tuesday, Oct. 9, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. William S. Davies, Jr. officiating. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until time of service. Interment will be private prior to the memorial service.
