Aloysius F. "Al" Henkiel, 91, of Wellsboro, died Friday, March 29, 2013, at The Green Home in Wellsboro.
Born on July 17, 1921, in Morris Run, he was the son of the late John A. and Victoria Szymarek Henkiel. He was married to Nida B. Henkiel who died on Oct. 25, 2007.
Mr. Henkiel was a graduate of Morris Run High School. He was a veteran of World War II having proudly served with the United States Navy. He worked for many years as a quality control inspector for Dresser Industries in Wellsboro. He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church and was a lifetime member 4th degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus. He was also a lifetime member of the V.F.W. and was a member of the Wellsboro Fire Department.
Surviving are one son, Denny Henkiel and his wife, Jane, of Wellsboro; two granddaughters, Jodi Tahsler and her husband, Steve, Becky Rawson and her husband, Travis; three great-grandchildren, Andy, Kate and Evan; several nieces and nephews including a special niece, Mary Gamber.
Friends and family are invited to Al's Life Celebration on Tuesday, April 2, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Tussey-Mosher Funeral Home, Ltd., "A Life Celebration Home," 139 Main St., Wellsboro. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 3 at St. Peter's Catholic Church with Father John Chmil as celebrant. Burial will be in Wellsboro Cemetery.
