Dale Benjamin Sherman, 70, passed away Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013, at his residence in Wellsboro.

He was the husband of Iva Marie Davenport Harriger Wheeler whom he married on July 24, 2010.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Esther Elizabeth Scounten Gibson, Oct. 11, 2004. Dale was born Dec. 17, 1942, the son of the late Lisle R. and Edith Mary Weller Sherman.
He was raised on a farm in Middlebury Center. Dale graduated from Wellsboro Senior High in 1959. He worked on farms and a feed mill. Dale joined the PA Army National Guard in 1960; he was among the unit dispatched to Ft. Polk, Louisiana in 1961. Dale was a United States Army veteran. He worked many jobs throughout his lifetime. Dale worked at foundries, farm machinery dealers, lumber mill, bartender, and Western Auto. He worked for the Army Corps of Engineers, Tioga-Hammond Lakes for 25 years, retiring at the end of 2004. Dale resided in Middlebury, moved to Pinnacle Towers in Wellsboro in 2008. That is where he met and married his wife Iva. Dale was a member of Intercontinental Church of God, Williamsport
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his step-children, Tina Brown (Chris) of Toms River, N.J., Cathy Phillips of Wake Forest, N.C., Daniel Harriger (Kathy) of Gallatin, Tenn., Gloria Gibson of Williamsport, Vernon (Christine Fedoriu) Gibson of Williamsport, Sharon (Gene) Heck of Knoxville; sister, Jane Osani of Wellsboro; several step-grandchildren; step-great-grandchildren; and three nieces.
Friends and family are invited to Dale's Life Celebration Tuesday, Sept. 10, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., at Tussey- Mosher Funeral Home, Ltd., "A Life Celebration Home," 139 Main St., Wellsboro. Funeral will be Wednesday, Sept. 11, at 11 a.m., at the funeral home with Bob Ayers officiating. Burial will be in Wellsboro Cemetery. Memorials may be made in Dale's name to Iva M.
