G. Marie Fritchel, 102, of Cleona, Pa., formerly of Galeton, passed away on Tuesday, Apr. 23, 2013, at the Good Samaritan Hospital, Lebanon, Pa.

Born Apr. 12, 1911, in Elk Township, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Clara (Wetmore) Persing.
On Mar. 7, 1934, she married Lawrence Fritchel, who preceded her in death on June 27, 1989.
Marie was a member of Pine Creek Valley United Methodist Church in Gaines, and a member of the Zion Evangelical Congregation in Annville, Pa. Marie was a past member of the Marshlands Grange, the Gaines Thimble Club, and the Gaines Kitchen Band.
Surviving are two daughters, Donna (James) Drumheller, Plant City, Fla.; Elsie (David) Neefe, Cleona, Pa.; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Marjorie Persing, Gaines; Ruth Persing, Missouri; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Marie was predeceased by a daughter, Myrna Monroe; two brothers, Burl and Norris Persing; and two sisters, Ruth Deiseroth and Beulah Brown.
Friends may call at the Hess Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Galeton, on Saturday, Apr. 27, from 10 to 11 a.m., with funeral services following at 11 a.m. The Rev. David Shultz will officiate.
Burial will be in Knowlton Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Pine Creek Valley United Methodist Church or to the Zion Evangelical Congregation.
