Harold O. "Hobby" Bartlett, Sr., 93, of Tioga, died Monday, Sept. 2, 2013, at Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital, Wellsboro.
Harold was born Oct. 19, 1919, in Tioga, a son of Frank and Myrle (Osborne) Bartlett. He and his wife, Harriett (Brass) Bartlett, celebrated 72 years of marriage.
He was a machinist at Ingersoll Rand until his retirement. Harold was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church, Tioga; the American Legion, Tioga; assisted in founding the Tioga Fire Department; enjoyed fishing, hunting, work, spending time with his family, socializing and roller skating. He was a World War II Army veteran.
Harold is survived by his wife, Harriett; a son and daughter-in-law, Harold ""Hobby"" and Marj (Hartman) Bartlett of Tioga; three daughters and sons-in-law, Helen Bradshaw of Austin, Texas, Fred Lameriaux of Austin, Texas, Al Racheck of Elmira, N.Y., Shirley and Robert Sullivan of Avon, Conn., Joanne Saylor-Lowe of Elmira, N.Y.; 12 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; two great-great- grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Catherine Shertz of Canton. Harold was predeceased by a daughter, Norma Racheck in 1997 and two brothers, Ronald and Dee Bartlett.
Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday, Sept. 5, from 6 to 8 p.m., and Friday, Sept. 6, from 9:30 to 10 a.m., at Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 637 S. Main St., Mansfield. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 10 a.m., at the funeral home with Pastor Debbie Button officiating. Military honors will be presented by the Tioga County Honor Guard. Burial will be in Beech Flats Cemetery, Canton Township.
