Jane Kendall (Miles) Osgood, 88, of Wellsboro, and formerly of Beverly, Mass., passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 30, 2013, following an extended illness at The Green Home Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility in Wellsboro.
Jane was a daughter of the late Reuben M. Miles and Josephine (Minard) Miles. She was born on July 11, 1924, in Haverhill, Mass. Jane was married on June 12, 1949, to George E. Osgood, who predeceased her on April 18, 1994.
She is survived by a son, George E. Osgood Jr. of Wellsboro; his wife, Christine K. Osgood; grandchildren, William M. Osgood and Emily C. Osgood, both of Pittsburgh; sisters Elizabeth Sayers of West Kingston, N.H., Rebecca Lynch of Framingham, Mass.; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Kendall M. Osgood in March 1960.
Jane was a long-time member of the Church in the Cove, Beverly, Mass. For many years, she helped her husband with the family business, Essex Lighting Service and also worked in the Beverly School District at Endicott College and at American Marine Model Gallery, Salem, Mass.
In keeping with her request, no public funeral services will be held. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are entrusted to the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., Wellsboro.
