Larry Cleveland Linder, 71, died Oct. 29, 2018 at his home in Middlebury Center.
Mr. Linder was born in Wellsboro, to George Wallace Linder and Phyllis Cleveland Linder on Feb. 19, 1947.
He was wed to Kathy Merrick Linder on May 11, 2002 in Lawrenceville.
After receiving his Masters in Mathematics, he went on to get his Juris Doctorate from the University of Miami.
He was a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association for 43 years with his practice in Tioga County.
He practiced law at Linton & Linder while raising his family in Wellsboro, before eventually remarrying and moving to Middlebury Center.
He set high expectations for his children and they were always rewarded with his cheers, guidance and support.
Larry enjoyed many different projects that included home renovations and even built a four car garage in his spare time.
He was an avid skier and volunteered on the ski patrol for several years. He also enjoyed mustang convertibles and NASCAR. He loved to have a good time with his friends and family. Larry could be found with his friends Jimmy Buffet and Jack Daniels because it was always "five o'clock somewhere."
In his prime, he would sweep the Jeopardy board while his kids watched in amazement. He was an avid lover of card games and Scrabble with friends and family. Later in life, Words with Friends became one of his pasttimes along with spending time and "Facetiming" with his grandkids.
He was a brilliant man with a sharp sense of humor who loved his family deeply.
Those who knew him were quick to see his wit, but also his direct manner and sound counsel. He will be missed dearly by those who had the pleasure to truly know him.
Mr. Linder is survived by his wife, Kathy Merrick Linder, children: William (Melissa) Linder of Houston, Texas; Heather (Craig) Spring of Telluride, Colo.; stepdaughters Terri (Brian) Kehoe of Hurst, Texas; and Jessica (Nate) Plankenhorn of Williamsport, four brothers: William (Joanne) Linder of Leesburg, Fla.; George (Gretchen) Linder of Wildwood, Fla.; Phillip (Sharon) Linder of Tioga; and Vaughn (Colleen) Linder of Lawrenceville; and eight grandchildren.
At his request, there will be a gathering to celebrate his life at his home at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 3.
Friends and family are all welcome to attend.
