Leona Mae "Susie" Hazelton, 82, of Sullivan Road, Wellsboro, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2019, at her home. She was the wife of the late Jerry L. Hazelton, Sr. for 52 years until his passing July 21, 2009.
She was born Aug. 18, 1936 in Wellsboro, the daughter of Hugh and Martha (Luther) Starkweather.
Susie was a graduate of Wellsboro High School and worked for Galeton Production for 20 years.
She worked most of her life on the family dairy farm.
She loved cooking, hunting, fishing and reading a good book. She also loved her dogs.
Left to cherish her memory are three sons, Donald (Teresa) Hazelton of Covington; Bruce (Natalie) Hazelton of Lancaster; and Jerry Hazelton, Jr. of Wellsboro; a daughter, Sandra Hazelton of Lancaster; a brother, Wesley Starkweather of Wellsboro; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Susie was preceded in death by three brothers, Alvin, Donald and Thomas Starkweather; a sister, Alice Grunhagen and a granddaughter, Stacey Hazelton.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2019, from 2-4 p.m. and from 6-8 p.m. at Tussey-Mosher Funeral Home, Ltd., 139 Main St., Wellsboro.
Susie's funeral service will be Thursday, Jan. 10, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with Pastor Kenneth Martin officiating.
Burial will take place in the West Branch Cemetery.
