Lorraine "Lori" P. Young, 62, of Elkland passed away on Sunday, May 12, 2013, at the Carleton Nursing Home in Wellsboro.
Born June 25, 1950 in Brookfield Township, she is the daughter of the late Arthur and Hazel (Stanton) Schmidt.
She married Harry E. Young and together they were foster parents to many children. They loved to boat and camp. He passed away in March 2012.
Lori was a registered nurse, an avid photographer and liked to do ceramics. She was a member of the Christian Life Church in Corning, N.Y. and the Pentecostal Revival Center in Westfield.
She is survived by her daughter, Amanda (Josh) Cody, Cayuta, N.Y.; step children, Kelly M. (James) Fallon, Brockport, N.Y.; Mark (Bridgett) Young, Spencerport, N.Y.; Sarah, Lawrenceville; 5 step grandchildren; her brother, Larry (Linda) Schmidt, Westfield; her sisters, Phyllis (Harley) Linza, Westfield; Irma (William) Mead, Wellsboro; Shirley Cary, Harrison Valley; Beverly (Bernard) Payne, Knoxville,; Linda (Robert) Reed, Athens, Pa.; Louise (Bill) Reed, Westfield; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Harry, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Arthur and Ronnie Schmidt.
Family will receive friends at the Pentecostal Revival Church, Westfield, on Thursday, May 16, from 12 to 2 p.m. A funeral service will be held immediately following at 2 p.m., with Rev. Kenneth Schoonover, Jr. officiating.
Burial will be in Champlin Cemetery, Westfield.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Pentecostal Revival Center, 584 Route 49, Westfield, Pa. 16950.
Arrangements are being handled by Kenyon Funeral Home.
