Richard E. "Bud" Neville, Sr., 85, formerly of Lancaster, passed away peacefully on Friday, Oct. 25, 2013, at Broad Acres Nursing Home, Wellsboro.
He was born in Lancaster, on March 31, 1928, to the late Anna (Neville) and Elam Eisenberger. Richard was the husband of the late Christine (Horn) Neville who died in June 1998. They had celebrated 50 years of marriage.
Bud served with the Merchant Marines during World War II. He retired from Ironworkers Local 420, Reading, after 38 years as a journeyman ironworker. Bud and Chris were avid square dancers for several years.They also spent the winters in San Benito, Texas for many years, RVing etc. After his wife's death, Bud moved from Salunga, to Tioga County. Bud enjoyed deer hunting in Tioga County and bird and wildlife watching from his living room window.
Bud is survived by three daughters, Virginia (Storm) Hetrick of Mainesburg, Tina (John) Johnson of Houston, Texas, Brenda Schrader, companion of Ed Ney of Columbia; a son, Richard E. (Janet) Neville, Jr., of Denver, Colo.; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a sister-in-law, Hazel "Honey" Asper of Landisville; nieces and nephews; his companion, Veronica "Vera" Sherwood, of Mansfield; and his dog, Missy.
A memorial service will take place in the Mainesburg area at a later date. Private family interment. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Bud's name may be made to Jill D. Cross Memorial Fund, c/o Mainesburg United Methodist Church, 100 Smith Park Rd., Mainesburg, Pa. 16932.
