Richard "Dick" Ray Hamblin, 72, of Romney, West Va., passed away Monday, Jan. 7, 2019, at the University of Virginia Medical Center.
Born Dec. 10, 1946 in Middlebury Center, he was the son of Owen Hamblin and Arlene (Wilbur) Hamblin.
Dick was a retired banker, serving as President and CEO of First National Bank, Romney, city executive officer at the BB&T bank, district manager of F&M Bank in Keyser and President and CEO of Farm Credit.
He was a member of Zoar Baptist Church and a past member of the Rotary Club.
He served in the Marines during the Vietnam War.
He enjoyed farming. He was a beloved husband, Dad, PawPaw, brother and uncle.
Surviving is his wife, Mary Lee (Grose) Hamblin; three daughters, Shanna Lee Hamblin of Gastonia, N.C., Jennifer Fishel of Augusta, Michele Voit of Winchester, a sister, Cheryl Shulenski of Tioga; three brothers, Keith "Buck" Hamblin of Tioga; Marty Hamblin of Middlebury Center; Joe Hamblin of Hedgesville, West Va.; and five grandchildren: Kirah, Owen, Mark, Matt and Nick.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Jan. 11, at 1 p.m. at Covenant Baptist Church, Romney, West Va. with Pastor Michael Cheshire, Pastor Dale Myers and Pastor Quentin Simpson officiating. Interment will follow in Old Bethel Cemetery, Romney, West Va.
The family will receive friends Friday from 12 p.m. until time of service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Bone Marrow Transplant Research Fund or Bone Marrow Transplant Support Fund, c/o Jocelyn Lewis, PO Box 800773, Charlottesville, VA 22908.
