Richard "Dick" William Matreski, 83, of Blossburg, peacefully passed away on Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013, following an extended illness.

Richard was born Oct. 22, 1929, to Edward J. and Victoria (Dominikoski) Matreski.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Edna Irene (Rennie) Matreski; one daughter, Leah Wells of Bradenton, Fla.; one son, and daughter-in-law Edward and Kathy Matreski of DuBois; sisters, Rita Pesesky and Catherine Beck, both of Elmira Heights, N.Y; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Ardith Matreski of Blossburg; and two step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by both parents; son, John Richard Matreski; sisters Geraldine Belawski, Anna Campbell; brother Joseph Matreski; and son-in-law Philip Wells.
Richard retired from J.P. Ward Foundries after 45 years of employment, during which he served as treasurer of Local 304B of the International Union. He was a life member of Hillside Rod and Gun Club and enjoyed many outdoor activities, such as hunting, fishing and gardening.
Friends will be received Wednesday, Sept. 11, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Freeberg Funeral Home, Blossburg and on Thursday, Sept. 12, from 10 to 11 a.m., at Freeberg Funeral Home, where funeral services will follow at 11 a.m., with Father John Chmil officiating. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Morris Run.
