Thomas E. Brown, 69, of Tioga, passed away Friday, July 12, 2013.
He was the husband of Marjorie Lawton Brown, whom he married on Oct. 25, 1969. Thomas was born on March 28, 1944, in Elmira, N.Y., the son of the late Russell R. and Lydia Elliott Brown.
Thomas was a dairy and beef cattle farmer. In addition he had driven bus for Benedicts, was a courier for Citizens and Northern Bank and did maintenance work for Tioga Housing Authority. He was a member of Middlebury Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and trustee. Thomas was a member of Middlebury Volunteer Fire Department. He also served on various farm boards, such as Tioga County Fair, Tioga/Potter Farm Bureau, Tioga County Soil Conservation and Middlebury Milk Co-op.
In addition to his wife, Marjorie, he is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Janet Hale (Aaron), Joyce Butler (Jason); son and daughter-in-law, Alan Brown (Tabatha), all of Tioga; brother, Donald Brown of Rochester, N.Y.; three grandchildren, Mitchell and Heidi Butler, Sawyer Hale; aunt, Madelon Young of Rochester, N.Y. Thomas was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Mark Brown and sister, Joanne Cochran.
Friends and family are invited to Thomas's Life Celebration on Tuesday, July 16, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., at Tussey-Mosher Funeral Home, Ltd., "A Life Celebration Home," 139 Main St., Wellsboro. Funeral will be on Wednesday, July 17 at 11 a.m., at Middlebury Baptist Church, with Pastor Calvin Cutting and the Rev. Dr. Todd Witmer, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Memorials may be made in Thomas's name to Middlebury Baptist Church, Holliday, Pa. 16935, Middlebury Volunteer Fire Department, Middlebury Center, Pa. 16935 or Tioga County Fairgrounds, c/o Lori Hamblin, 21 Gee Rd., Middlebury Center, Pa. 16935.
