Wilda C. Simmons, 89, of Wellsboro, passed away Saturday, Oct. 19, 2013, at the Green Home.

She was the wife of Richard Simmons, Sr.; they were married on Nov. 25, 1947.
Wilda was born Jan. 11, 1924, in Farmington, the daughter of the late Fred and Velma Leroy Colegrove.
She was formerly employed by Corning Glass Works, Wellsboro, for 35 years. Wilda was a member of Draper Baptist Church. She enjoyed collecting frogs and thimbles. Wilda loved her family and was especially proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving in addition to her husband, are her daughter and son-in-law, Sylvia and Ronald Ellison of Antrim; sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Nora Simmons, Jr. of Wellsboro, Fred and Elaine Simmons of Stony Fork; three sisters, Iva Wheeler of Wellsboro, Leora Starks of Mansfield, her twin sister, Hilda Wheeler of Wellsboro; five grandchildren, Matthew Ellison, Christopher Simmons, Sarah Simmons, Joshua Simmons (Morgan), Hannah Welfling (Karl) and four great-grandchildren, Bryce, Sienna and Jon Simmons, and Wolfgang Welfling. In addition to her parents Wilda was preceded in death by two brothers, Dennis and Edison Colegrove and a sister, Dorothy Day.
Friends and family are invited to Wilda's Life Celebration on Tuesday, Oct. 22, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Tussey-Mosher Funeral Home, Ltd., "A Life Celebration Home" 139 Main St., Wellsboro. Funeral will be Wednesday, Oct. 23, at 1 p.m., at the funeral home with Pastor Dennis Crumb officiating. Burial will be at West Branch Cemetery.
