Helen M. (Samson) Maynard, 87, of Wellsboro, died on Saturday, March 8, 2014.
She was born on June 19, 1926, in St. Marys, a daughter of the late Carl A. and Kathryn (Ferguson) Samson. Helen was the wife of Robert L. Maynard, Sr. who died on Dec. 28, 1999.
She was a retired teacher and had worked in Bradford, Genesee and 20 years for the Wellsboro Area School District Junior High and Middle School where she was the head of the math department, operated the school store, worked on the yearbook and Student Council and was instrumental in starting the computer science department. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma.
Helen is survived by two sons and daughter-in-law, Robert L. Maynard, Jr. of Wellsboro, Dennis and Cindy Maynard of Wellsboro; two daughters, Barbara J. Maynard of Reading, Carla J. Maynard of Jim Thorpe; three grandchildren, Sara Maynard, Laura Maynard, Brett Maynard; niece, Kathy Samson; nephew, Paul Samson and her little dog, Princess.
