Ruthadel Hungerford, 89, of Wellsboro, died Wednesday, March 12, 2014, at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital.
She was the wife of Vernon R. Hungerford who preceded her in death. Ruthadel was born on March 8, 1925, in Middlebury Center, the daughter of the late Forrest and Bernice (Whitney) Button.
She was a retired employee of The Green Home where she had worked as a nurse's aide for 22 years. Ruthadel was of the Baptist faith. She belonged to the VFW Auxiliary, Wellsboro.
Ruthadel is survived by her daughters, Myraetta Austin (Gerald) of Wellsboro, Sandy Vargeson of California; sons, Gary Cummings (Linda) of Wellsboro, Tim Cummings (Rose) of Elkland, Hugh Heck (Julie) of Mainesburg; sister, Alcena Shelman of Covington; brothers, Eugene Button (Ruth) of Tioga, and Richard Button of Corning, N.Y. In addition to her parents and husband, Ruthadel was preceded in death by her son, Roger Cummings and three brothers, Lester, Kenneth and Lyle Button.
Friends and family are invited to Ruthadel's Life Celebration on Friday, March 14, from noon to 1 p.m., at Tussey-Mosher Funeral Home, Ltd., "A Life Celebration Home," 139 Main St., Wellsboro.Funeral will follow at 1 p.m., with the Rev.
