Gene Alden Heyler, 57, of Columbia Md., passed away Saturday, March 9, 2013 at his home.
Born March 2, 1957, he was the son of the late Earl W. and Freda (Maneval) Heyler.
Gene graduated from Liberty High School, Liberty, in 1974. He graduated from Pennsylvania State University in 1978 with a bachelor's degree in engineering science. Gene received his master's degree in computer science from Johns Hopkins University. He was employed at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory since 1978 as an Aerospace Engineer where he worked on over 20 NASA and Department of Defense space missions. Gene was an active member of the Glen Mar United Methodist Church for over 33 years.
Gene is survived by his wife, the former Tina Lynne Walker. He was the proud father of two sons, Adam Joseph Heyler, Paul William Heyler; brothers, Kenneth (Susan) Heyler, John (Susan) Heyler, both of Nauvoo and sister, Margie (John) Harendza of Binghamton, N.Y.
A memorial service will be held at St. Paul-Nauvoo United Methodist Church at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 23. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church. The family will provide the flowers. Memorial contributions in Gene's name may be made to St Paul UM Church, P.O. Box 4, Liberty, Pa. 16938.
